New Years Resolutions!

Happy New Year!! I hope your previous year was fruitful for God, yourself, and those around you. As many will set goals or resolutions for themselves, many set goals that are either unreachable, or not very realistic. If we are going to set goals, we need to be realistic, and put things into proper perspective.

Our first priority has to be our relationship with God. [Mat 6:33 NKJV] 33 "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. His kingdom is His church. It is not the church of your choice, but it's His church. It's one that bears His name, and His teachings. When we seek and find Him in the kingdom, He will then bless us and help us achieve those realistic goals.

Second, don't put all of your eggs in one basket. Do not set forth 20, 30, or 50 goals to reach at the beginning of the year. Instead, make 5 realistic and short goals to achieve and once you do, set 5 more.
Third, it's OK to be selfish in this re…

Sexual Harassment Goes Both Ways!

I want to start off by saying that it is never OK for anyone to sexually harass anyone. It's not OK to harass anyone period!! However, there seems to be a double standard going on in the world today.

Time and time again, we have seen big name, Hollywood citizens, come out with allegations that they were sexually harassed. It's even touched the major news and sports stations. Just tell me something though; tell me why we are just hearing it from the woman's perspective? Why haven't any men come forward with the same allegations?
I have worked around a lot of women through out my career, and I have been flirted with, propositioned, and even given embarrassing sex toys by female coworkers. You know what? I handled the situation as it should have been. I made a choice to turn down the propositions and laughed at the others. Could I have went to my bosses and complained? You bet I could, but it wasn't necessary in my case.

I am not implying that all cases are that simpl…

Fans Don't Matter to UT

Even though I am committed to tell the truth, I hate to have to be negative. However, the truth often times appears to be negative because it goes against the grain. UT fans, we really don't seem to matter to the administration of UT. Why would I say that?

Ever since the firing of Phillip Fulmer, which was needed, the administration had adequate time and money to get a dominating football coach. I believe they tried by hiring Lane Kiffin, but Lane had a dream job and it was only a matter of time for him to bolt. If the fans knew this, why didn't the powers that be?
This was in the days that UT football should have been one of the top jobs in the country, but it has gone down the toilet folks. Now we are the laughing stock in all of sports. This has been an absolute disaster but why? It's simple really. It's because they don't care about what their fans want.
It first starts with Chancellor Beverly Davenport. What does this woman really know about football? No, I am…

The Truth About UT Football!!

Here we are again!! Yes again!! I am going to give you the hard cold truth here about the last 10 years of the UT football program.
First, the state of UT football has nothing to do with who is currently at the University of Tennessee, except for Philip Fulmer. I love Phil Fulmer, and I respect where he took UT football, but He was the beginning of the downfall of the program. His comfort zone was always with the buddy system. It worked for a very long time until Vols fans got tired of the same ole thing, over and over again.
Playing not to loose, prevent defenses, and not getting the full potential out of all of his players. I know what you are thinking; how could I say that with Manning, and Garner, Henderson, and Martin? Well I will use those names to prove my point.
If you look at the scope of their careers, it leaves me wondering how in the world with that talent, did we not win two or three championships? We won in 1998 with a stellar defense, and an athletic QB, but that was …

Glorified Preachers!!

[James 4:10 NKJV] 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
This picture is sad but true. We have too many glorified preachers who want to be seen by men. We live in a sad world. A world where people like to stare at themselves in a camera and take selfies. Before the smart phones had cameras on both sides, people would take pictures of themselves, staring at in a mirror.
Then, the stupid "duck lips" phase came about, and you literally had to look at one out of every 4 news feed, with a friend who looked like they had stuck their lips to a vacuum cleaner hose. Wait! But that's not all!!!
Then you have the viral wanna be guys, who shoots videos of themselves singing or preaching, like they are the next Joshua Feuerstein. No doubt that this guy is intense, and perhaps sincere, but how much of it is a show?
Do we understand why Jesus had a multitude following Him? See I don't think many do. I mean, sure, perhaps there were those who wanted…

Repeat After Me!!

We have a big problem in religion and a BIG PROBLEM in the church. That is the problem of not begin diligent in the scriptures. We do good if our brethren read the Bible, much less study the Bible. If we introduce a workbook for class that may have questions at the end, people look at you as though they have one more thing to do now during the week.
There is a reality that is called "cause and effect". The cause of this is that people love the world, and the things that they want. They let worldly living consume them.
The effect is that people don't have time for the Bible. They don't read it, study it, and live it. It's hard to live by something that you have no clue as to what it says. How can one be a disciple of the Word and only reply upon the mouths of men, to tell you what something means?
[2Tim 2:15 NKJV] 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. In the KJV translai…

Jesus Built the Church Not a Fortress!!

Another tragedy makes us worship goers think, what must we do to stay safe against terrorist like the 26 year old man that shot and killed 27 in Sutherland Springs Texas? I have devoted my life as a disciple of Jesus Christ. Being devoted, I must always tell the truth even if it goes against popular belief.
I am reminded what the scriptures has to say, and the information it gives us in order for us to make decisions. So first, what Jesus built is spiritual and not physical. Jesus built a spiritual body that is called the church. What he didn't build was a physical building, or buildings that people like to call the church.
The Pope lives in a city, that is surrounded by a wall. The protection around the Vatican City is bar none some of the best. Congregants and it's leaders are fortifying their building, and beefing up their security, in hopes that they will protect it's members from acts like what happened to day.
What must we do? Let's look at scripture. [Psa 18:2…
